BASEL, Switzerland – November 12, 2025 – Magnolia, a leader in the digital experience platform (DXP) market, today announced the release of Magnolia 6.4, a major platform update engineered to deliver significant improvements in AI-powered intelligence, performance, and accessibility. This release empowers enterprise organizations to build future-proof digital solutions at scale.

This strategic release merges expanded AI capabilities with a completely re-architected publishing engine and a modernized, accessible user interface. Magnolia 6.4 offers editors, developers, and content teams the tools they need to manage complex, large-scale digital experiences with greater speed and efficiency.

"Magnolia 6.4 represents a strategic evolution of our platform, directly addressing the demands of modern enterprise projects," said Philipp Bracher, Chief Product & Technology Officer at Magnolia. "We're not just adding features; we're future-proofing our customers' technology investments with the upgrade to Jakarta EE 10 and empowering their teams with smarter, faster, and more inclusive tools. This release is about delivering tangible value and a superior user experience at enterprise scale."

"I just tried out the new global search and the delete overlays. And honestly, it’s extremely fast compared to the old UI," said Marvin Kerkhoff of Arvato Systems, a long standing Magnolia platinum partner. "I cannot wait until more of the platform is recreated with the New UI."

Key benefits of the Magnolia 6.4 release include:

  • Expanded AI capabilities: Automate metadata generation for assets and leverage any AI model of your choice for more accurate, context-aware image tagging, streamlining media workflows.

  • Drastic performance gains: Publish large volumes of content over 70% faster with the new asynchronous Swift Publication engine. Manage massive asset libraries by storing binaries externally without sacrificing native DAM functionality.

  • Modern and accessible authoring: Experience a faster, more intuitive editing process with rebuilt forms and workflows that are WCAG compliant, meeting modern standards for an inclusive user interface.

  • Future-proofed technology stack: Magnolia 6.4 runs on a Jakarta EE 10 baseline, ensuring long-term security, stability, and compatibility with modern Java platforms and containers like Tomcat 10+.

The release also introduces a simplified and more predictable release support cadence. All major Magnolia releases will now be fully supported for two years, with an additional year of security-only fixes. To facilitate a smooth transition, Magnolia is providing direct migration paths from versions 6.2 and 6.3 to 6.4 and has extended security support for Magnolia 6.2 until September 2027.

Magnolia 6.4 is available now.
